 “FERNHURST FUN WITH PAINT DAY” and fun it really was!

On Saturday 21st October.
Local youngsters aged 0 to 8 played with paints on material. They had fun squeezing the paints out of their tubes and mixing them with their hands and feet to make wonderful hand and foot prints and designs.
Some chose to paint alone others painted with a partner and some watched, Mums and Dads joined in too. The stage area of Fernhurst Village Hall was filled with their paintings pegged up to dry whilst still more paintings were created.
During the day everyone was invited to paint “their mark” on a canvas on the stage which Nikki completed later.
Thirty or more children brought their parents with them. The Village Hall was filled with their quiet concentration and contagious enjoyment.
Protective plastic aprons, gloves and foot coverings were provided, the aprons were used, however children and parents preferred to paint with bare hands and feet. Lots of fun was had washing the paint off afterwards too! A “quiet toy area” was also well used.
 At the end of the day a local Story Teller, Christine Stone, entranced us all with a gripping story of “Olden Times” whilst Nikki captured the story on canvass.
Prizes were given for Nikki’s six favourite paintings and a collage of three different childrens paintings can be seen at the Fernhurst Centre.
Some of the material, prizes and aprons were donated by local people and businesses. With help from enthusiastic friends and family, the event was organised by local artist Nikki Marianna Hope (formerly Nikki Hamburger) who feels passionately that “Painting is Fun” whether you are 0 or 90 or more!
